Hume San Diego Summer Camp

Hume:SD is a seamless blend of Hume Lake and San Diego. Urban missions and beachfront activities take full advantage of the location while powerful corporate worship, compelling teaching and full throttle recreation provide a true camp experience. Enjoy the San Diego beach culture while building relationships!

We have expanded our program to accommodate the growing number of groups who want to do urban missions electives with New Vision.
Have you considered doing urban missions BEFORE you come to camp? A day or more with New Vision prepares your group up for an even greater impact at camp, gives you an affordable housing option, and can be budget-neutral if you will save money on your airfare by coming to San Diego a day or two early.

Service Opportunities

As the 8th largest city in the United States, San Diego has many thriving urban and international mission organizations. Through partnerships with these groups, Hume:SD provides campers and counselors with safe, supervised opportunities to serve people in immediate, tangible ways.

Whether it’s handing out food and socks to the homeless, holding a worship service in the lobby of a downtown hotel, or helping people in our community through a service project, students are taken out of their “me-centered” culture and confronted with a world of hunger, loneliness and need. Campers will learn the power of a pair of socks and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Here is life transformation, for the servants as well as for those in need.

Each afternoon during free time, campers are given the opportunity to put what they're learning at camp into practice through opportunities to reach out.

We are Hume's partner in reaching the urban areas of San Diego.  Over 10,000 homeless people live in San Diego, with over 20% of those being women and children. New Vision affords Hume:SD campers opportunities in Hotel Ministry, Service Projects, Street Ministry, and Homeless Shelters. A $10 per participant donation goes to New Vision to help provide desperately needed supplies for New Vision's ongoing ministry. If you plan on doing the urban ministry, please have parents complete the New Vision Release Form.
